I came across an article about a man who had his gender changed and I thought about something that I never thought about before: does a transgender person who gets saved go to heaven? Lets say a man transforms into a female & when he becomes a female they come to Christ, does she goes to heaven? or does she have to go through the procedure to become a man again in order to be accepted into the kingdom? Also if he is now a she should she be attracted to men or is that considered homosexuality?
I answered:
Gender identity is a very complex and personal issue. Luckily, your specific question has a very cut and dry answer. Yes transgender people who accept the Lord go to Heaven. There is no fine print that keeps people who are saved by the blood of Jesus out of eternal life. On the same note, I’m not sure what links being transgender has to how people perceive their sexuality. What I do know for sure is this: “if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” -Romans 10:9. Again, not loopholes, no fine print. If you accept the free gift of salvation by the blood of Christ, that is it, you are saved.
Gender is a huge way in which we define people. But in eternal circumstances, the only definition that matters is if you have entered into a relationship with God through Christ or not. Galatians 3:28-29 says “There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Here Paul is reiterating what he said in Romans. Everything, including gender, loses its importance in defining us next to God’s definition of us as accepted, loved, forgiven, and bound for an eternal home.
